Gifts

Christmas is definitely a time for giving -- for sacrificing a little money, or time, or effort, to make someone else happy. I don't think anyone doesn't like getting presents. Christmas gifts are looked forward to especially by children, but I think it is nice to remember the gift that our Heavenly Father gave us: "For God so loved the world that He gave His Only Begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." (John 3:16) Truly, what greater gift could we have than the chance to repent and overcome our trials and sins and return to live with our Heavenly Father again. I definitely plan on having gifts be an aspect of our Christmas tradition, but I hope we can teach our children to be more excited about giving than getting, and more thankful for Christ's gift than for a doll or sneakers.
