our little funny girl

So, apparently I take too many movies... then when there's a glitch in the system, I have nothing to upload. So, a little update on our Amy-mooley. She's now transitioned to a crib mattress on the floor. Why, you ask? Because she figured out how to unvelcro the pac-n-play mattress and crawl under it (which makes life not only really uncomfortable, but gets her stuck). We are waiting for the new found freedom of having her whole room to run around in to lose it's appeal and for her to sleep at night. Some nights she's really good... others, I just don't sleep.

She's trying with all her might to figure out how to open the door too. Often, you hear her knocking on it (we've taught her that when you knock on doors, they usually open). She is still dairy free, but we're hoping to wean her back onto milk soon.

Till I take more pictures, you'll have to content yourself with this picture of her from May when she was sick, taking a bath in the sink. This is funny, because she loves cramped places recently -- she is always pulling the toys out of their boxes and wanting me to help her get inside. If the box is too small and she doesn't fit, she gets really put out. But thankfully, there are 3 that she still fits into... for now. :)

Allergic to Dairy

So, after a month and a half of diareah, we finally figured out what's going on with Amy's bowels:
She is allergic to dairy -- now, for any of you out there who might be facing the same thing, let me give you a tip that I wasn't aware of from my Pediatrician.

Children who are allergic to milk, are usually allergic to a protein in the milk, he said... and that protein is also in soy milk (we'd tried a week of soy milk with no improvement). My Pediatrician said NO milk, soymilk, almond milk, rice milk or whatever for a week... just juice, water, good fruits and veggies and a multi-vitamin till we could ascertain what was happening.

After a day on juice and water without the soy milk, her stools solidified... even with eating peaches, cherries and the like. I am very happy and encouraged. Now, I only hope that it's a temporary issue. She ate dairy just fine before her bad case of diareah the beginning of May. We'll see what happens, but that's it for now.

It's another little Girl!

We drove straight from our vacation to the hospital to have our second ultrasound of baby #2. And it's a little girl. We're very excited -- Amy has been such a delight, and they'll be close in age. I hope they'll be good friends as they grow up. We are also glad, because we already have everything for a girl, and I feel more confident in changing girl diapers than boy diapers. What you're looking at here is her nose and mouth, like she's kissing the screen sideways.
She's a little kicker, just like Amy. Here's a little leg extended.

Our little trooper

Amy did remarkably well on our trip to Bryce... for someone who's in perpetual motion, I was proud of her for not whining so much or crying too much for being confined in the car.

She didn't take her nap one day, which made the drive home especially tiring.Good thing she had Oma to make funny faces at her from the front... but after a while, she just looked like this -- a travel zombie.

Our Trip to Bryce

My parents took us to a neat museum just outside Bryce... there were all sorts of exhibits of butterflies, animals, birds, fish, beetles, and moths. Amy was squealing with delight the entire time we were in there, running just as fast as her little legs could carry her and pointing to all the animals.
I think the museum was brilliantly done, and great for little kids, who rarely get to see animals so close. We learned a lot too -- I especially enjoyed the butterfly collection.
Amy pointing at an Africa display with a lion.
Amy spent a lot of gleeful time riding on Daddy's shoulders -- he skips with her and she gets so happy about it. He's a great father.
On a little hike to 'Mossy Cave'. Amy was glad we let her get down and stroll for a while.
Over-looking a waterfall.

This was from the morning hike Ryan and my Dad went on. It's hard to take a bad photo in such a beautiful place. We really enjoyed ourselves.

Amy giving my Dad snuggles... she really loves her Opa and Oma. She actually calls my 'Oma' "Mooma". Sometimes I don't know if she's talking to me or her.

More Bryce Pics

check out Amy in this darling swimsuit. It was her first time in a pool... took her a while to warm up to the idea of being in that much water, but then she had fun. I love this swimsuit though!!

Update on the Funny things

It's been a while since I've remembered to take my camera with me anywhere, but I can promise more photos next week because we're finally going on a vacation (Ryan deserves it big time!)

But, to keep you up to date with the funny things happening around here:
Amy likes to clean her hands by rubbing them in her hair -- even if it's yogurt... I can't seem to get her to stop, but now that she's learned what ''no'' means, we might make some progress.

Amy says "no" a lot... it's so darling when she says it -- it's high pitched. She's so funny when she says it to me too... yesterday I asked for something she was holding (the case to the thermometer). She walked over to me like she was going to give it to me, then poked my hand and said "no, no" in her high pitched little way.

She's also learned to say "Yes", but it's more in the Sid-the-Sloth way "Yesththtth". I love it!! I try to get her to say it as much as possible.

When you ask her what the dogs say, she says 'Woo woo', and of course, the ducks still say "Waahhh waaahhh". She's obsessed with animals now... can't get enough of seeing them.

So far, her words to date are: 'duh'=duck, mommy, dadda, me, 'baw'=ball, 'nana'=banana (which she used to love eating, but now she asks for it but just squishes it), 'pweee'=please (she thinks if she says it, she can have anything), no, 'yestshth', 'Ma'=Oma, 'Paba'=Opa, "winno"=window, "bysibo"=bicycle... that's all I can think of for now. :)
