For the quote board

Two of Amy's of late:

I didn't even know she knew this word in context, because other than scripture reading, I don't know if she's heard it much... but proof that kids pick up on stuff -- Esther was being whiney because she's not slept well.
Amy, walking behind her says: "Do you want to repent, or go to your room?"

While trying to figure out what's for lunch:
"Amy, should we make grilled cheese sandwiches for lunch?"
Amy: "Let's make some boy ones instead."

For the quote board

Amy likes this song by the Polkadots (a child's song group; one of the women from it is on the 'I'm on a Mormon' campaign). Ryan was singing one part of it:

Ryan: "And I sit down just like a tiger..."
Amy: correcting him "It's not 'sit', it's I get down like a tiger."
Ryan: "Can't tigers sit? Doesn't Tigger from Winnie the Pooh sit on his tail and bounce?"
Amy: "People don't have tails, people just have bums!"

For the quote board

I was trying to open the jam, which was pretty crusted over.

Amy: "Daddy's a tough guy. He can open hard things."

Me: "Yep, Daddy is a tough guy." Grunt, grunt...

Amy: "You're not a tough Mommy though, huh?"

Me: "I'm a tough Mommy!! I had you and Esther without pain medication, and that's a tough thing to do."

Amy: "Yeah, but you can't open the jam."

Point taken. Happy news -- I eventually managed to open the jam, even without my big tough man. :)

For the quote board

We had beets last night, and when Esther pooped on the potty, Amy said: "Esther has red poop."

Me: "You could have red poop too, if you would've tried some beets last night." (Thinking this would've been an incentive for her to try eating beets today)

Amy: "I don't like red poops... I like my poop to just stay brown."

For the quote board

Amy was trying to stick a smiley face sticker on the oven today...

I said, "Don't put it on the oven please."

Amy: "I'm not doing it for real... I'm just doing it for different."

As I post this, Amy is singing a song to the stickers that she stuck on the carpet. What a nutter-butter, we love her!

Mo and Dee and Amy quotes

Amy has two imaginary friends: Mo and Dee. It's taken me a month to figure out that they were just that... imaginary. These are the details I've been able to figure out from her.

Mo is a girl, and Dee is a boy. Dee seems to be somewhat mischievous (he sometimes pats Mo on the cheeks and makes her sad, or does handstands and coins in his pockets go everywhere). They are sometimes Esther's age, and sometimes really old. One time she told me they where space helmets (the way she said it was 'bowls on their head and they can see'.)

Ryan and I both had imaginary friends as children, so I'm not too concerned... we're normal, right?

Other funny Amy-isms recently:

We told her my parents were coming up for Thanksgiving and this is the conversation that followed.
Me: "Oma and Opa, and Uncle Ben and Aunt Shera and cousin Rylee are coming. Opa's going to bring a big turkey bird for us to eat" (My Dad's been telling her for a few months about the bird and stuffing, and she's very excited about it)

Amy: "Opa's going to bring 3 turkey birds."

Ryan: "Oh, that would be a lot of turkey. Too much for Daddy even to eat."

Amy: "Amy would eat it up... Amy would eat it all gone!"

Ryan: "But turkeys are big birds Amy... as big as you."

Amy: Looking incredulous "Noooooooooooooo!!" Totally didn't believe us at all!! I guess she'll find out Thursday.

Also, yesterday we went to the Temple while our FABULOUS Katie sister/friend baby held down the fort for us. As I was tucking in Amy before we left, she said:

"Are you going to marry Daddy?"

Me: "I already am married to Daddy."

Amy: "Are you going to marry Daddy again in the Temple tonight."

Me: "We are going to the Temple tonight."

Amy: "I could just go to the Temple... if I had a blue skirt."

Amy quotes

We went out to dinner for my birthday, and they gave us a gratis ice-cream pie slice for desert. Amy, who's been talking in aggrandized ways (I love this... that's my favorite) said of this desert which she'd never before seen or tasted:

"OOOOooohh! That's my favorite. I love it. I always eat it."
